    One of the changes our founder, Kevin, made on his journey to health and wellness was reconnecting with his lifelong passions of fitness and drumming. Iron refers to the weights used in the gym, and hickory refers to the drumsticks used on the drum set. These are just two of the many tools Kevin found useful for regaining and maintaining his health and wellness. Personal trainers have training that enables them to help clients explore and optimize their experience of physical fitness through the development of individualized exercise programs that target client fitness goals including losing weight, building muscle, and improving mobility, stability, endurance, strength, and power. Engaging with a personal trainer may be a single component of a larger health and wellness plan a client is developing with their health coach. Iron and Hickory Coaching offers personal training, fitness programming, health and wellness coaching, and nutrition coaching services to provide clients with a comprehensive menu of health and wellness services.

  • How is a nutrition coach different from a dietitian?

    Nutrition coaches and dietitians have different scopes of practice. Dietitians may develop specialized meal plans and administer medical nutrition therapies based on client need. Nutrition coaches partner with clients to provide ongoing, personalized counseling and education that expands nutritional knowledge, empowers healthy food choices, and explores goal-specific nutrition principles. Clients may work with a dietitian to establish and monitor a meal plan and work with a nutrition coach to bolster their nutritional know-how and receive ongoing coaching support as they implement their meal plan.
